Frequently asked questions
Our Vernly Series is produced by a manufacturer with decades of experience building high-performance fly reels. The reels are machined from T6061 aluminum with a fully sealed carbon fiber drag system. We've field tested our reels from Montana to England to Hokkaido to the Bahamas.
Many fly fishing brands are now owned by private equity. FitzAlan is independently owned. We only optimize for our customers and the planet they live on.
Match the reel to your rod's line weight. A 3/4 reel pairs best with a 3 or 4 weight rod. A 5/6 reel pairs best with a 5 or 6 weight rod. Still not sure? Tell us your rod and we will help you choose.

The Vernly Series is machined from T6061 aluminum and anodized for corrosion resistance. The drag system is fully sealed, which keeps saltwater out of the internals even after repeated exposure. Rinse it with fresh water after every saltwater outing, let it dry completely, and this reel will outlast cheaper alternatives. We field tested it on Bahamian flats to verify that.
